Shibarium’s Initial Phase Struggles: $1.7M Ethereum Inaccessible, Challenges Unfold

Shiba Inu's Potential Surge with SHIB ETF Approval

Following months of eager anticipation from the Shiba Inu community, Shibarium has been successfully launched. However, the network is currently grappling with a series of challenges, including a pause in block production and approximately $1.7 million worth of ETH trapped on the Ethereum bridge.

As promised by lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, Shibarium went live on August 16 during the Blockchain Futurist Conference. The network’s debut attracted significant interest from the larger community, leading to a notable increase in its adoption rate.

$1.7M in Ethereum Inaccessible

Investors aimed to transfer their assets from Ethereum to the recently launched Shibarium network, but due to encountered problems, the process has been temporarily halted. Renowned Chinese blockchain journalist Colin Wu pointed out a significant issue: roughly 965 ETH, which is valued at approximately $1.7 million, is presently ensnared on the bridge connecting the two networks.

Colin Wu referred to insights provided by Beosin, a platform specializing in crypto-related risk alerts. Beosin confirmed this unforeseen development, underscoring that the mentioned $1.7 million has indeed become inaccessible.

The monitoring team at Beosin advised users to refrain from using the Shibarium bridge at present. Esteemed on-chain investigator ZachXBT also drew attention to this situation.

Etherscan data supports these assertions. At the time of reporting, the Shibarium bridge contract contains 965 ETH, valued at approximately $1.75 million. These assets, which investors intended to transfer from Ethereum to Shibarium, are currently stuck and cannot be accessed.
