Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, highlighted the significance of building tools like Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) within the cryptocurrency’s tech stack. Kusama, reacting to a scammer’s interview, underscored the necessity of these developments in enhancing user security.
Don't ask me why we are building tools like Self-Sovereign Identity and Karma & Reputation into the Shib tech stack. Just watch this instead… https://t.co/gCQ7ylWVKi

In a recent video, a self-proclaimed rug puller, known as 0xPhantom, described how he scammed investors, making $200,000 in just two months. He detailed his tactics, revealing that he launches fraudulent projects using DogWifTools and then abruptly abandons them. When he uses the “Dump All” feature on the platform, it automatically sells all his holdings, leaving investors with worthless tokens. To conceal his identity, 0xPhantom appeared in a ninja costume and altered his voice.
Shiba Inu’s Response: Strengthening Security with SSI
Kusama urged his followers to watch the video to understand the reasoning behind Shiba Inu’s focus on security tools like SSI, Karma, and Reputation within the SHIB technology stack. He explained that these tools are crucial in protecting users from such fraudulent activities.

The Shiba Inu team introduced SSI in August 2023, just before Shibarium launched on the mainnet. This technology allows users to have full control over their digital identities and credentials, moving away from the traditional model where big corporations exploit customer data.
Future Integration with Shibarium
Kusama also revealed that SSI would eventually be integrated into Shiba Inu’s L2 blockchain, Shibarium. However, this process will take time, as the research phase alone is expected to last several months. Nevertheless, the implementation of SSI is seen as a significant step toward enhancing the overall performance of the Shibarium ecosystem.

Arno Bauer, a prominent developer on the BNB Chain, added that SSI would improve Shibarium’s compliance with regulations, safeguard sensitive data, and bolster the network’s security against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and fraud.
