Shiba Inu (SHIB), a popular meme coin, is now accepted as a payment option for tickets at Sao Paulo FC, a top Brazilian football club.
The football club announced the latest development a few days ago on its official Twitter account. According to the source, the payment would be arranged by Bitso, the official sponsor of Sao Paulo.
This means that participants of the Socio Torcedor program in Sao Paulo can now purchase tickets for their team’s matches using cryptocurrencies such as Shiba Inu (SHIB). It should be noted that Shiba Inu support was added to Bitso’s platform in early January 2022.
The announcement reads, “There’s news in the area for you, fan partner! In partnership with @BitsoBr, the official sponsor of @SaoPauloFC, #TorcidaQueConduz can now buy tickets for games at Morumbi by paying in cryptocurrencies, isn’t that awesome?”
Sao Paulo FC Partners With BitPay to Accept Shiba Inu
The image referenced in the post also shows that the football club has adopted the BitPay service.
A SHIB user confirmed Sao Paulo FC’s acceptance of SHIB via BitPay. BitPay, a cryptocurrency payment processor, officially began supporting Shiba Inu in late 2021, allowing SHIB to be spent at hundreds of BitPay shops that accept Shiba Inu.
With this decision, Sao Paulo, one of Brazil’s largest and most renowned clubs, has become the country’s first to take cryptocurrencies.
