The collaboration will allow Airwallex customers in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom to accept payments using American Express cards. Notably, they will be able to do so using e-commerce shopping extensions, Xero invoice payments, and online payment gateways.
According to Airwallex, the partnership results from customers’ demands for the benefits of using American Express payments. The benefits include increased spending, high-end customers, and better customer payment experiences.

According to the press release, the partnership will leverage novel cross-border and multi-currency payment solutions, integrating Airwallex’s technology with the convenience of using American Express for payments. The Ripple partner adds that it allows customers to choose from 60 payment options, including American Express.
As stated in a Ripple blog post, Airwallex has been a Ripple partner and RippleNet user since 2017. Hence, it enables practically instantaneous and low-cost international remittances and settlements using XRP as a bridge currency.
It should be no surprise that the most recent partnership has attracted the attention of XRP influencers, who have taken to Twitter to share the news.

It is the most recent in a long line of partnerships between renowned legacy finance institutions and Ripple partners. As was revealed in December, Moneygram collaborated with a Ripple partner, Frente Corretora, to develop an online remittance platform in Brazil. Less than a week later, DeeMoney, another Ripple partner, collaborated with Visa to deliver nearly immediate peer-to-peer cross-border payments using the Visa Direct solution.
