Shiba Inu whales have remained active recently, despite the extensive consolidation phase that the broader crypto market is experiencing. The network witnessed a recent transaction involving up to 2.8 trillion SHIB tokens. As of press time, neither wallet involved in the transaction was known, but the recipient wallet had been inactive before the inflow.

The recent whale transaction involved the transfer of 2,871,107,065,000 (2.8 trillion) SHIB worth $26.2 million between two unidentified wallets, as highlighted today by the blockchain tracking and analytics platform Whale Alert. According to Etherscan data, the transaction occurred on December 8, 12:03 p.m. (UTC).

The transfer depleted the sending wallet’s Shiba Predator (QOM) tokens, leaving it with $16.5. Despite remaining active in recent months, the recent SHIB transaction was the first massive outflow from the wallet, implying an intention to empty and abandon it. Still, little is known at the time of reporting.

On the other hand, the recipient address is a newly created wallet address, as evidenced by its transaction history. According to Etherscan data, the most recent inflow is the address’s first transaction. The wallet now has a new balance of $26.2M, but it only holds the 2.8 trillion SHIB that was recently transferred into it. According to Etherscan, the address is now the 32nd largest SHIB holder.

Whales Have Started Accumulating SHIB

These SHIB whale transactions have increased as a result of recent market volatility. Some investors seek a safe haven for their assets, while others sell in panic or accumulate more tokens to capitalize on the buy-the-dip opportunity.

Notably, newly created wallets have recently accumulated billions of SHIB tokens, with this recent transaction representing one of the largest accumulations. Two whales amassed up to 420B SHIB ($3.94M) in their balances two days ago, according to FxCryptoNews. This occurred less than 24 hours after an earlier report on December 5 revealed the accumulation of 555 billion SHIB by two newly created mysterious wallets.
