Changpeng Zhao of Binance congratulated Charles Hoskinson of Cardano for being awarded the most influential person in cryptocurrency this year by a recent poll.
The Binance chief applauded the Cardano founder in a tweet on Thursday.
CZ and Hoskinson had a narrow lead in the poll conducted by whalechart.org (@WhaleChart), a cryptocurrency-focused Twitter account with over 200,000 followers. But after more than 36,000 votes, the creator of Cardano outperformed CZ by 2%. With 36% of the vote to CZ’s 34%, Hoskinson triumphed.
Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced founder of FTX, and Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, both received mentions in the four-man poll and received 11% and 18% of the votes, respectively.
In response, Hoskinson called it a “tough” vote and declared a tie between himself and CZ.
“It was a tough one,” Hoskinson tweeted. “I think we’ll call it a draw.”
However, the poll results differ sharply from CoinDesk’s list of the 100 most influential people. Notably, only Buterin, who finished last in this poll, is included in the CoinDesk list. Many people were shocked to learn that CZ, Hoskinson, and SBF were not included in the list from October.
When this happened, Hoskinson said he wasn’t surprised. Notably, in the at least 7-year history of the ranking, Cardano’s founder has never been considered. The news outlet’s nonexistent, unfavorable, and inaccurate coverage of Cardano has been criticized repeatedly by the founder of Input Output Global.
Cardano was named the top cryptocurrency brand by MBLM in its brand intimacy survey this year.
