Celebrities Raise $87M in MoonPay’s Series A Round.

Crypto payment platform, MoonPay received $87 million from several celebrities as part of its $555 million Series A round. Over 60 famous personalities in sports, music, media, and entertainment invested in the startup’s Series A round. 

The collective investment generated over 15% of the revenue raised, according to MoonPay on Wednesday. It is interesting to see how celebrities worldwide have adopted the crypto payment platform’s project.

The startup, headquartered in Miami, received a $3.4 billion valuation after closing its Series A funding last November. In addition, Coatue and Tiger Global lead the investment.

Crypto Attracting the Attention of Celebrities

Celebrities interested in investing include Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, Maria Sharapova, Gal Gadot, Diplo, The Weekend, Drake, Matthew McConaughey, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Willis and Paris Hilton.

Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg and pop singer Paris Hilton are no strangers to the crypto industry because they have stakes in the NFT markets. MoonPay has taken advantage of its past services, including acting as a gatekeeper for NFT purchases on behalf of several celebrity investors like Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow and Diplo.

The firm provides payment infrastructure to let people exchange fiat currencies and crypto using all traditional payment methods, such as debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
